I really love Lex Martin’s Wild at Heart series and Burning Skies, the third book in the series, is a great addition.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
This is the story of Beau Walker and Honey McAllister, star-crossed lovers that may FINALLY be getting their chance at a HEA. Honey had a crush on Beau for a long time and almost has one night with him when she’s snuck off to a party/event she’s not supposed to be at and he is there as well. But a long-time family feud between the Walkers and the McAllisters, proves to be too much for Beau to overcome to give in to Honey’s temptation.
Seven years after their last messy encounter, Beau (a firefighter) and Honey (now a teacher) are forced back into each other’s lives when a series of mysterious fires and strange incidents start happening at her school. He’s one of the responders called in to handle them. When Beau first appears, Honey is still holding strong to a grudge from their past. But the more time they are forced to spend together they realize they have a mutual attraction and decide the best course of action is to do something about it to get it out of their systems.
But the attraction remains and their casual relationship begins to turn into something deeper. Despite the forces conspiring against their blossoming feelings, will Honey and Beau be able to overcome everything and get that HEA? They will have to contend with Honey’s father trying to set her up in an arranged marriage to an arrogant rancher, Honey’s two brothers freaking out that their baby sister is with their so-called worst enemy, and the mystery of whether these incidents at Honey’s school are putting her in any danger.
Will the Walkers and McAllisters end on a much happier note than the Montagues and Capulets? Read to find out!
This is the third book in the Wild at Heart series and Beau’s family, characters from Books 1 and 2, make a lot of appearances here. That being said Honey and Beau’s story is strong enough that you could read this as a stand-alone if you wanted to. BUT I think you’d get more enjoyment out of it if you read them all. Just IMHO.
