This was such a cute romance and I think a lot of people will enjoy picking it up right before Valentine’s Day since it is scheduled to come out on February 11.
Tara Gerra has been hired to restore a work at the Louvre and during her amazing time in Paris, ON Valentine’s Day, she meets a very handsome man named Gustave and decides that during her Parisian adventure she will engage in a one night stand (ONS).
Turns out Gustave is not just a random handsome stranger in Paris, but actually a real life French Count (Comte de Valois) who also happens to be the sponsor of her work so to speak. Neither of them knows it at the time that they hook up but shortly afterwards they run into each other at a Louvre event and reality is out.
What was only supposed to be an ONS, turns into more of a real relationship even though they both understand that due to the nature of Tara’s time in Paris it is temporary. Gustave even introduces Tara to his 18 year old child, Aubert, from his marriage with his ex-wife, Simone. Aubert is a wonderful and supportive son, encouraging his dad to move on from what he remembers of his dad having a very toxic relationship with his mother.
Simone is the OW in this story. Although Gustave and she have been divorced for quite some time, she continues to use his name and appear at charity and other events at his side. Or at least turns up at his side whether she was supposed to be there or not. She is determined to win Gustave back and does not tolerate anything that could get in her way. Unfortunately, she recognizes that Tara has the potential to be something which could definitely ruin her plans.
And she sets in motion something that will cause Gustave to betray Tera and have to grovel hard to win back her affection.
Will Gustave manage to stand up to the ex-wife that keeps digging her tentacles back into him, overcome a sense of duty to his family, and uproot his entire life to win back his true love, Tara?
Read to find out.
FYI - There is no cheating in this story. Gustave is an idiot and betrays Tara’s trust. However all the Other Woman Drama relationship wise is purely on the side of the other woman.
Tropes: ONS, Betrayal, Grovel, Second Chance, OWD
Disclosure: You know I get every book Maya Alden puts out. I happened to receive this one as an ARC.
