My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Safe With Me was actually a very good book for those that like difficulty family dynamics and a groveling MMC. Also, if you enjoy a small farming town as a setting this one’s for you.
Hannah is struggling to find her place in the world and her relationship with her sister, Elizabeth. Both siblings work in their dad’s store but while Hannah is more of a design type and tries to find her place working on decor and such, Elizabeth has gone the influencer route and is mainly concerned with her social media following. In fact, Elizabeth has grown so concerned about her social media that she is now using it to take credit for Hannah’s work, cast Hannah as the bad guy and cast herself as the victim in various circumstances.
Hannah has been bullied to the point where people that she knows are taking Elizabeth’s side over hers. Including Tate Edwards, the MMC, who Hannah has been pining after for a long time but who has always imagined himself in love with Elizabeth. When Elizabeth’s engagement to Tate’s friend implodes and he finally has the opportunity to go after the woman he’s been dreaming of, he realizes that she is not actually the one he wants and is rather more of a nightmare. Unfortunately for Tate he doesn’t come to this realization before he almost completely destroys his friendship with Hannah.
So read the book to see if Tate and Hannah can get over their fears and hurts and have that HEA.
It appears that this is a standalone novel that is the first of a new series of books that will be featured in the same location and have some continued plot strings running through them. Looking at the other books the author has written, there are some characters that were mentioned here that are featured in her previous novels. So do your own research in terms of what you want to read first.
Again, this can be read as a standalone and the next couple’s book says it is expected some time in 2026. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I enjoyed her writing, the plot and the characters that she introduced us to.
Tropes: Second chance, friends to lovers, grovel, sibling rivalry, social media gone wrong, bullying
