The Wrong Date on Easter is a super quick read that delivers a satisfying romance in a novella format.
SPOILERS:
Dove is best friends with Cordia Archer and close with the Archer family. She is also secretly in love with Cordia’s older brother, Shane. At the same time Shane has been secretly fighting his attraction to Dove, believing that she is too good for his darkness, and instead tries to keep her at arms length by doing things like dating other women instead of confronting the situation.
Everything comes to a head during Easter dinner with the Archer family when Shane’s latest girlfriend, Emily, is truly awful to Dove. The Archer family is wealthy and Dove is more working class with a career as a teacher. Emily takes every opportunity to get a dig in at Dove. And does Shane let her get away with it? Not at all. He actually does really well at defending Dove, even though it goes against his current girlfriend, until one moment where he is alone with Emily and Dove overhears him say something that hurts her immensely.
How will Shane manage to grovel and save the situation with Dove? Read and find out!
Tropes: Friends to Lovers, Best Friend’s Brother, Secret Crush, Overheard, OWD
I received this book as an ARC but I have read all of Audrey Halliwell’s OTT Shorts and enjoyed them. I would have borrowed this from KU if I did not receive the ARC.
